Jesmond Central has completed a major $7 million upgrade, transforming the retail hub into a modern, family-friendly destination.
Located in Newcastle, around 2 hours north of Sydney in New South Wales, the revitalised centre officially launched between 17 – 19 July, featuring three days of live entertainment and community festivities.
Opened in 1964, Jesmond Central has long been a cornerstone of local shopping and community life.
The latest enhancements include a brand-new Dan Murphy’s, external and interior upgrades such as a new façade and entry statements, upgraded amenities including a state-of-the-art parents’ room, and a modernised bus stop designed to align with the centre’s refreshed aesthetic. The bus stop also features improved seating and shelter for commuter comfort.
The stylishly redesigned dining precinct ‘Eat Street’ will encourage connection and relaxed gathering by offering visitors enhanced comfort, convenience, and choice.
“We’re thrilled to invite the community to experience the revitalised Jesmond Central,” said Centre Manager Trina Pywell. “These upgrades reflect our ongoing commitment to the evolving needs of our customers while celebrating our rich history as a trusted local shopping destination.”
Jesmond Central welcomed shoppers, families, and the broader community to be part of this exciting milestone, with celebrations including live music, roving performers, giveaways, and family-friendly entertainment.
